The Five Unavoidable Red Flags by Sara Musfeldt..

In hindsight it's easy to say that your ex was a jerk, an abuser, or a cheater. I know because I've done this at least 18 times.

The reality is that because we liked the guy we justified the red flag so much so that it became more pink than red. That may be OK to do sometimes, but be honest with yourself. If, in fact, the flag is very red, then don't ignore it and get out before it's too late. Here are five examples of red flags:

1. Roughness. A respectful person won't hurt his or her partner. It's a red flag if he grabs or pushes too hard and then claims he was just playing around.

2. The "Who's that guy?" syndrome. Everyone has insecurities so a little jealousy can be normal in a relationship. But you should know the difference between a little jealous and a lot jealous. If he gives you 20 questions every day, if he accuses you of things that are untrue, if he puts you down and calls you names, then he's way too insecure. And the bad news is that he won't get better. It's just the beginning and he WILL get worse.

3. Listen to your sister. There are exceptions to this rule, but know that your family and friends love you and want what is best for you. If someone close to you doesn't like him, at least consider what they have to say about your new man.

4. You don't do what you used to. Changing your priorities with a new relationship is natural. Spending less time with your friends and on your hobbies will happen, but don't entirely eliminate them. If your significant other prevents you from seeing your friends or is upset when you do things on your own, consider it a red flag.

5. One minute he's sweet, the next he's scary. Instability makes you worry about what kind of mood he'll be in once you get home or about rearranging your day just to make him happy. The reality is that you should be with someone that is stable and who treats you well all the time.

Of course this list just scratches the surface. There are certainly more red flags to heed and, of course, women can be just as guilty of committing these crimes. For more dating tips, visit DatingTales online dating guide.
